Jade Raymond, the leader of the Ubisoft Toronto studio, believes that bigger teams can innovate just as well as indie developers and that the upcoming Splinter Cell: Blacklist is an example of how resources can be spent to push a genre forward.

She tells Edge that, “There’s certain types of innovation that can be driven at big studios where you have more resources, so I think we each have our role to play in moving the industry onwards.”

At the moment, the Toronto team is working on Splinter Cell: Blacklist, which will be launched in late summer on the PC and current-gen consoles.

The game will see Sam Fisher create Fourth Echelon, a new anti-terror organization, while dealing with a number of new threats.

Ubisoft Toronto also has a mysterious, unannounced game under development.
