Whether your job requires handling a lot of pictures or you're just a big fan of photography, we thought you'd like to have a go with
Jade 1.0. DataMind's just-released digital image processing application for
Mac OS X v10.5 (
Leopard) also comes in the form of a demo (30-day trial version to be precise), employing
proprietary algorithms to enhance
color, contrast and dynamic range, while preserving image quality.
The full thing isn't too expensive either. It will cost only $39.99,
if you're going for the standard version. However, if it's your job that requires it, you'll have to fork out an extra $160 (full price $199.99) for the pro version. The company quotes a certain R. Duczek, who fell in love with the program immediately and bought a license as soon as possible: "I saw your program Jade and after using it 5 minutes I bought a licence! Great work," R. Duczek commented.
DataMind says that aside using the best algorithms to enhance image colors, contrast and dynamics (while preserving the overall quality of the images), users can
adjust the algorithm output by
fine-tuning parameters such as intensity, contrast and color correction.
Basically, Jade 1.0 makes image enhancement easy while batch processing large volumes of images. However, Jade is only the first of a series to come of image processing and computer vision tools started by DataMind. The company's research and development team is reportedly working on new and challenging algorithms and tools to improve your digital experience, as you're reading this piece. And that goes for both images and videos.
DataMind's
highlights for the software:
- Fully automatic red eyes correction without the need of a manual selection.
- State-of-the-art noise removal and deblurring of images.
- Image grouping and intelligent indexing by pictorical features.
