Jada Pinkett Smith, her mother Adrienne Banfield-Jones, and her daughter Willow Smith, sat down for an interview for Mother's Day, the first in a series called Red Table Talks. You can see it below, embedded at the end of the article.

The interview is like no other before, in that it puts the three women of three different generations together, to work through issues they've been dealing with for years and to help others understand the problems they too are facing.

The new series aims to encourage conversation between women and family members, friendship, love and bonding.

As you may have already imagined, the topics that come out for discussion are not always the most pleasant ones, as the video will confirm.

For instance, Adrienne reveals for the viewers at home (and for Willow too) that she used to be a drug addict and, because of it, a bad mother.

She was more or less absent from Jada's life until in her late teens, and she feels she messed up at being being a parent.

“I was not a good mother. I had mommy when I was very young and then I got addicted to drugs after mommy was born,” Adrienne tells her granddaughter Wilow.

Jada doesn't agree, saying the nature of one experience, negative or positive, depends on the lesson you learn from it. “I don't look at the experience that we had as bad,” she says.

In the same interview, Willow, the 11-year-old pop sensation, makes a startling revelation as well: she doesn't want to be famous.

“If I had to change one thing about my life, it would probably be, I wouldn’t be famous. Because when you’re famous it’s so hard. Let’s say if a regular girl is going to the book store, it’s ten times harder to go everywhere [when you're famous],” Willow explains.

“But some people are like, 'Oh, it’s so easy,' and I’m like, 'As fast as you can get there, it’s going to take me ten more minutes to get there.' Because I have to call security,” she adds.

Jada agrees, explaining that security for Willow can be quite an issue because she has so many fans and she's immediately recognized when she's out.
