One of Michael Jackson's most notable marriages was the one he contracted with the nurse of his personal dermatologist and the mother of his children, Deborah Rowe. The two spent less than three years together and, after a divorce settlement that left her richer than she ever dreamed ($8 million) and the proud owner of a house in Beverly Hills, she renounced all visitation rights to her children in 2001.
But, in 2004, Rowe had a sudden change of heart and filed court papers for custody of Prince Micheal and Paris. Neither Deborah nor Michael was present for the last court hearing and a decision was taken in their absence.
While the former wife of the King of Pop requested that he pay the $195,000 in legal fees, Superior Court Judge Robert A. Schnider ruled that, given the amount of money she received on her divorce, she can afford to pay part of the expenses herself.
The judge ordered Michael Jackson to pay the $60,000 in court fees and has given him until September 28 to come up with the money. Until then, both sides are to appear in court for a settlement on September 18 and the issue of Michael not paying the alimony for the past three years (as his ex-wife claims) will also be a part of the agenda.
If the case is not settled on this occasion, Deborah Rowe will be enabled to pursue the legal battle for the custody of her children and for visitation rights.
