After some rumors indicating an imminent reinstatement, Jack Dorsey, Twitter's creator, has announced that he is back full time at Twitter and will be leading product development at the company. Dorsey left Twitter more than a couple of years ago, not by his own choice though, when he was ousted as CEO.

Since then he's been building Square, a mobile payments startup he founded and is CEO of. But Dorsey says he's going to do both jobs now, continue to lead Square and work for Twitter every day.

"Today I'm thrilled to get back to work at @Twitter leading product as Executive Chairman. And yes: leading @Square forevermore as CEO. #200%," Dorsey tweeted.

"Excited that Twitter Chairman @jack will be returning to the company day-to-day leading product as Executive Chairman," Twitter CEO Dick Costolo confirmed the move.

Dorsey has been acting as Chairman until now, a mostly honorific title he's hold on to since being replaced as CEO by Twitter cofounder Ev Williams. Still, he has been involved with the company in some ways and still spent time at Twitter on a few days a week.

Now though he's been promoted to Executive Chairman and will be involved with the day-to-day work. Getting over the initial fall out is interesting enough, but what's even better is that cofounder Ev Williams quit his CEO position precisely to lead product development, last year.

But the official story isn't playing out, the two most prominent faces associated with Twitter, Biz Stone and Ev Williams, are hardly involved with the company these days, rumors say.

Apparently, Twitter has been looking to hire outside help to take care of product development. But Dorsey was already filling that role and getting more involved with the company and Twitter ended up hiring him instead.
