Almost everybody agrees that cranking up the volume on your no-toy audio system at home is not the best solution in case you feel like listening to some music as you take a bath. First of all, your neighbors aren't that fond of hearing loud black metal songs with their windows closed (let alone if you're in a flat); then, such a thing is very silly, especially since gadgets like the Victor SP-AW303 from JVC have become rather widely spread.

Yes, we're talking about the portable, splash-proof speaker system recently announced by JVC, a very neat solution to safely bring water and electronics together, for your well-being.

The JVC Victor SP-AW303 is a nifty casing system that can accommodate pretty much any digital audio player, iPod or other similar things. It comes with a protective transparent screen (IPX4 standards) which is fastened to the main body by means of some easy-to-use plastic clamps, ensuring a good seal against water and moisture.

All you have to do is insert your digital player inside this case and hook it up to the 3.5 mm stereo jack; the headphone connection ensures that you can use the JVC Victor SP-AW303 with almost any digital player known to man, this rendering the system extremely versatile.

The JVC Victor SP-AW303 comes with a stereo speaker array, with each of the drives protected against water as well and placed in a side-firing design, with opposite directions and a good stereo separation. The power rating for this system is 2 x 450mW and this should be enough to cover your splashes, while at the same time giving you a decent background for you to let your vocal talent free.

This bathtub speaker system is powered by batteries that give the JVC Victor SP-AW303 a playback time of almost 6 hours – definitely more than you'd ever spend in your bath, unless you fall asleep. The price is around $31 (3000 Japanese Yen) but JVC said nothing on availability outside Japan yet. Bath time!
