JAMF Software has announced the release of a JSS Mobile application for iPhone and iPod touch. The company is best known for its Casper Suite client management application. JSS Mobile is immediately available from the iTunes App Store.

According to an official JAMF Software report, JSS Mobile allows you to access information in your JAMF Software Server (JSS) directly on your device. The JSS is the central server for both the Casper suite and the Recon Suite. These are requirements for using the JSS Mobile app. Their current version is 6.0.1. If you don't have any of these products, the company asserts, you can still use the application in Demo Mode. This can be turned on in from the app's settings menu. The demo version allows you to work with the interface for searching viewing inventory on the iPhone with a built in search engine. Attributes searchable for any computer owned by their organization include,

- Hardware information such as serial number, MAC address and processor
- Operating system version and available software updates
- Location information such as username, email address and phone number
- Purchasing information such as vendor, PO number, warranty date and purchase price
- Installed applications and licensed software.

Users can also access JSS like a browser, by using the items at the bottom of the springboard. While JSS Mobile boasts its own web browser, users can go through the app's settings again and have it using Apple's own Safari.
