JLo Is Booed, Cries Her Eyes Out

WHAT??? Do people in Berlin not like your movies? How can this be?

Jennifer Lopez is an accomplished artist. No, strike that. Jennifer Lopez is an accomplished singer. And even to that we could add a few touches of maliciousness, about how her voice is not strong enough to perform live, how it's not even that great to start with, but comments like these would be more than subjective. Therefore, we will abstain from such nasty remarks and just stick to her being a very popular and loved pop star.

Not the same can be said about Jennifer Lopez's acting career. Ever since she played the part of the singer Selena Quintanilla Lopez in the biopic 'Selena' (1997) and was received with warm critics, the idea that she can become a movie star got stuck with her. Unfortunately, the films that followed should have given her a clue that maybe (just maybe, I am only saying) acting is not the thing for her.

But, no! What JLo wants, JLo gets and we, the public, had no other choice than to sit back and watch bomb after bomb after bomb, as the diva unleashed upon us a series of such crappy movies that shouldn't even be mentioned but that we will do just that, for the sake of argument: 'Anaconda' (1997), 'Gigli' (2003 - also known as the worst movie in the entire history of cinematography) and 'Jersey Girl' (2004). Of course, there have been others that did fairly good at the box-office, but they still fail to wash the shame of having made these three we just spoke of.

Anyway, Jennifer's latest brush with Hollywood is the drama 'Bordertown', where she plays the part of a journalist, opposite Antonio Banderas. Although the topic of the movie is definitely something that one can't make light of, the acting itself is like an open invitation to ridicule. And we're not the only ones who say so.

The movie premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival. Yeah, people did not like it! Not one bit! After the screening, the diva (also in town, to bring more star power to the proceedings) stood aside, waiting for the people to react in some way... positive, if possible (first photo). Then, she waited some more but the venue was silent and people's faces were blank. Nothing (second photo). And then the booing came, mixed with some polite, yet muffled, applause and the 'actress' and main star began to cry (third photo).

She quickly rushed off the stage, only to return a couple of minutes later, all composed and smiling. As sorry as one can feel for poor Jennifer, one can't stop from wishing that maybe she will take this as a sign that she should stick to singing. That's just wishful thinking, as far as I'm concerned...
