Samsung might want to pay attention to the newcomer

OLED technology for Smartphones has Samsung as primary representative, but that's only because of heavy advertising and lack of options.

As it happens, the mobile display departments of Japanese companies Sony, Hitachi and Toshiba set up a Japanese government-backed venture a while ago.

That venture, known as JDI, has started to show its teeth, having created a 5.2-inch Full HD OLED display (1920 x 1080 resolution).

It uses a technology similar to the Sony WhiteMagic employed by the Xperia P, meaning the brightness must be of around 1,000 nits and that a white organic pixel is added to the usual red-green-blue setup.

Given the image above, however, we have to wonder why the colors are a bit off. JDI says the screen is superior to Samsung's diamond-shaped matrix (Galaxy S4), but Samsung is bound to evolve its offers by the time this particular invention lands in products.
