PC suppliers have resumed their ever ongoing string of product releases and HP made sure it would stay ahead of the competition in as many areas as possible, if not all of them, as is the due of the world's top PC supplier. The latest product to come out of its labs goes is known as Mini 5130. True to its name, the machine is a compact entry-level mobile computer that, predictably, leverages the capabilities of the Intel Pine Trail platform.

The new Mini Series 10.1-inch netbook does not employ the 'old' Intel Atom N450 central processing unit. Instead, it comes with the choice between the Atom N455 and the N475. The former has the same clock speed of 1.66 GHz as the N450, whereas the latter goes higher, to 1.83 GHz. What they have in common over their predecessor, however, is their support for speedy DDR3 memory.

Whichever CPU is chosen to act as the heart of the configuration is backed up by up to 2GB of DDR3 RAM and paired with the Intel GMA (Graphics Media Accelerator) 3150 integrated graphics and the optional Broadcom Crystal HD Flash accelerator. The machine also features a hard disk drive with a capacity of up to 320 GB, or a solid state drive of up to 128 GB. Furthermore, the PC maker implemented a 95% full-sized spill-resistant keyboard, for an added level of user-friendliness and reliability. As for connectivity and I/O options, HP threw in the obligatory Gigabit Ethernet, Bluetooth 2.1, 802/11 b/g/n WiFi, a 2 megapixel webcam, optional mobile broadband and a 4-cell or 6-cell battery.

This product has not yet been introduced and was only unveiled because HP Italy went ahead and added its product page to its official website. Models can be pre-loaded with FreeDOS, SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 or the ever available Windows 7 Starter or Home Premium. Finally, the price is of 482 Euro.
