Anti-trust authorities in Italy have fined Apple 900,000 Euros, or $1.2 million, for “bad commercial practices that harmed consumers,” reports say.

Autorità Garante della Concorrenza e del Mercato, Italy's anti-trust authority, said today that "Sanctions of a total of 900,000 euros have been imposed on the Apple group”, as it seems Apple had given “unclear information on payments for additional assistance offered to consumers” and the company had not “fully implemented the two-year guarantee by the producer.”

In Italy, consumers are provided with a minimum, mandatory two-year warranty on all electronics, by the Italian Consumer Code.

Apple was asked to “cease practice and notify the Authority” when they had a new warranty policy set in place for Italy. The document is also to be published on Apple.com, the authority said.
