A new episode of the interrogations in the "Juventus affair" took place in Rome yesterday, at noon. This time, the questioned one was referee Massimo De Sanctis. Considered to be one of the key members of the whole corruption scandal, the Italian said that he has nothing to hide, while also stating he is in no way implicated in the affair.

After whistling in one of the suspect games of the 2005 Serie A season - Juventus-Udinese 2-1 - referee De Sanctis was targeted by the "friuliani" officials of "siding with the Turin team". Known to have been one of the Juventus "friends" in terms of refereeing, he was interrogated yesterday by the FIGC commission, along with three other Serie A referees: Bertini, Salvatore Racalbuto and Gianluca Paparesta.

Although a final verdict is yet to be released - the investigation results will be made public two weeks from now - Massimo De Sanctis has already lost his place in this summer's World Cup. After being appointed between the top referees for the German competition, FIFA has withdrawn his refereeing license due to his implication in the "Juventus affair".

"I was massacred in the press and saw my image destroyed. Above all, as a referee I lost everything I had. I had earned my place in the World Cup and in my view should've been allowed to enter the tournament. I have nothing to hide and am therefore happy to collaborate", said De Sanctis in an interview for the Italian newspaper "La Repubblica".

Concerning his interrogatory, Francesco Borrelli - one of the main officials of the FIGC commission - said that "nobody has made a full confession". As a matter of fact, De Sanctis' lawyer was very satisfied with how things worked out in Rome: "We found a relaxed atmosphere here and it was a constructive meeting. De Santis explained everything and confirmed he does not feel responsible for any of the accusations".
