Two Italian companies have come up with an unexpected, but possibly successful product – the beer that you can spread on toast.

The concept was developed a year ago, but the product has now been made available. BuzzFeed writes that the producers of this original, semi-solid product are Italian chocolate makers Napoleone and beer brewery Alta Quota.

You may not think that you need a new way to consume beer but Alta Quorta reps claim that there have been several recorded attempts to create a product made out of beer that is not in liquid form.

“This is not the first time… someone has tried to make a non-liquid beer, but the experiments carried out have not been successful. [...] We believe that we have found the right formula with the use of high-quality products,” Claudio Lorenzini states for the company.

The product currently retails at Selfridges for £8 ($12.5 / €8.5).
