Federica Giacomini was known in the adult entertainment industry as Ginevra Hollander and she has been reported missing for months, spawning a nation-wide hunt by Italian law enforcement authorities. Today, those same authorities have confirmed that parts of her dismembered body were found in a trunk at the bottom of Lake Garda.

Italian newspaper Il Giorno claims that the 43-year-old actress had been missing for five months and that authorities didn't have any leads as to her current whereabouts, which led them to fear the worst case scenario.

Police investigating the case of her mysterious disappearance claimed that, since she'd gone missing, her bank accounts had been untouched and her mobile phone had been turned off. Her parents had been frantically trying to track her down but their best efforts also proved fruitless.

The break in the case came from an anonymous tip given to local police, claiming that a certain person had attempted to throw a large object in the waters of Lake Garda. The operations conducted on the scene led to the discovery of a trunk.

A police spokesperson confirmed that the trunk contained human body parts, cut separately and wrapped in plastic. “Inside there were several black plastic bags, wrapped with Sellotape and containing human body parts – sadly we believe it to be the body of Federica and an autopsy is being carried out,” the spokesperson said.

The main suspect in the case is Federica's partner, 55-year-old Franco Mossoni, known for a previous incident in which he stormed through a hospital with a gun in his hand, while he was dressed as Rambo. He is currently being detained in a psychiatric unit after he was recently released from prison following a conviction in a 1978 murder case.

The police think that the alleged murderer obtained the unwitting help of a local fisherman in dumping the trunk in the lake. The boatman in question told investigators that man he had believed to be a biologist contacted him sometime in late January and late February and rented his boat under the excuse of performing some experiments.

Police now have strong reason to believe the man presenting himself as a marine biologist was Mossoni Franco. He was spotted in the region several times in that period of time, and every time with another disguise: on one occasion he wore a wig and one another a fake beard.

At the moment, the police investigation is still developing, so further evidence is expected to come to light.

During her career, Giacomini made 16 adult films of certain notoriety. She had retired from the adult movie business in 2008.
