Steve Jobs wasn’t kidding when he said people didn’t want cheap stuff from Apple. Even with a “budget” variant now available for purchase, customers everywhere are flocking for the high-end version. And they want it in Gold, too.

Just as water is wet everywhere you find it around the globe, customers in every corner of the world are equally fond of the Gold iPhone 5s.

The latest confirmation comes from Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET), one of the three largest carriers in Taiwan, which revealed this week (via DigiTimes) that “70-80% of pre-orders so far received for the iPhone 5S/5C are for the iPhone 5S and a majority of iPhone 5S pre-orders have selected the gold-colored model.”

Gold-colored models of the 5s will take up just 20% of the units to arrive in the first batch, since production is still moving at a slow pace. Both the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c are scheduled to launch in Taiwan on October 25.
