Rockstar Games, the developer of the Grand Theft Auto 5 open world sandbox experience, emphasizes that, while it's an unrealistic goal to stop players from cheating in the GTA Online mode, it is trying its hardest to punish those who use illegal programs and tools to cause havoc and grief.

GTA 5 is currently available across multiple platforms, including PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. While it offers a compelling and quite lengthy single-player campaign, the main attraction to most people is the GTA Online multiplayer mode, where they can customize their character and go on all sorts of adventures in a sandbox inhabited by other living people.

Unfortunately for some, cheating is rampant in the multiplayer mode, as many users resort to illegal tools to cause virtual pain for others and stop them from enjoying the online experience as developer Rockstar intended.

Rockstar pledges to continue fighting cheating

In a recent talk with fans on its official website, Rockstar tackled the cheating problem in GTA Online head-on, saying that it's constantly monitoring the situation and dishing out punishment, while preventing tools from affecting the experience.

Even so, the studio adds that it's unrealistic to expect that all cheating in GTA Online will stop, as new programs and new ways of cheating are constantly being thought up by ill-intentioned individuals.

"Solving this problem requires a different approach on each platform. We have been regularly rolling out fixes for specific exploits and tools to enable us to combat cheating with each patch and we are going to continue to do so.

"While it’s unrealistic to say we can solve the problem of cheating forever and for everyone, we believe we are making significant progress on this issue and we will continue to work aggressively to stop these griefers in their tracks as best we can," the studio explains.

As for the developer's concerns right now, Rockstar is currently working on quite a few upcoming updates for GTA 5, in order to add new vehicles and items for GTA Online, while solving bugs, and of course, eliminating cheats.
