Quite a while ago, Obie the morbidly obese Dachshund made headlines following his more or less willingly going on an extreme weight loss program.

As reported, Obie was separated from his former owners and entrusted to Nora Vanatta, who did her best to help this pooch shed some of the pounds that were taking their toll on his health.

Recent news informs us that, despite the fact that Obie's previous owners tried to convince judges that the dog should live with them and nobody else, this adorable Dachshund is to remain in Nora Vanatta's care.

The latter says that, courtesy of this legal dispute's coming to an end, she and Obie can now focus on dieting and raising awareness about obesity.

Thus, she expects that the pooch will continue making significant progress as far as getting back in shape is concerned, and that it will not be long until Obie's slim figure is a cause of envy all throughout the canine world.

Just for the record, when Nora was first introduced to Obie, the latter weighed a whopping 70 (about 32 kilograms) pounds. However, it now weighs 49 (roughly 22 kilograms).
