Users are again urged to abandon Windows XP and move to a newer OS

You most likely know the drill already: Microsoft will soon stop providing support and updates for Windows XP, so all users are now urged to make the move to a newer OS.

And as far as Ryan O’Hara, founder of Sphinx Technology Solutions, is concerned, it doesn’t make sense to keep using Windows XP, especially because an unpatched system is like an open invitation to hackers and cybercriminals.

“When Microsoft ends its support for Windows XP next year, there’s a potentially much greater risk for small businesses and individuals, because there’s not the same level of awareness, and many smaller companies do not have in-house IT support,” O’Hara explained according to PressAndGuide.

“Given security risks of keeping an unsecure operating system online, there are additional steps that need to be taken in order to keep other systems safe and secure.”

Of course, Microsoft itself hopes that everybody will sooner or later get the message, so expand this kind of statements to become a common practice in the near future.
