400 million downloads of the browser

The battle between Firefox and Internet Explorer is about to be ended. Every time a new report is published on the web, Mozilla's and Microsoft's application are the clear leaders of the competition but it seems like Firefox is able to win it. Spread Firefox, a website that was founded in November 9, 2004 as an attempt to promote Mozilla's program proudly announced that it recently recorded no less than 400 million downloads for the browser. Quite amazing if we think there are only three years since the website was officially rolled out. According to the team working at Spread Firefox, they recorded 25 million downloads after only 99 days since their website was released while in six months they reached 50 million downloads.

"Today, you all have done it once again. With your amazing efforts, Firefox has reached 400 million downloads and demonstrated that not even the world's most powerful companies can keep people from a better, safer, and faster Web experience. You all, the grass roots and the heart of the Firefox movement, have helped hundreds of millions of people find that better, safer, and faster Web," the Spread Firefox team proudly announced in a message posted on the official blog.

You might start laughing and saying that 400 million downloads doesn't mean 400 million users but it is quite a record if we think that Firefox manages to face the competition with Internet Explorer, the browser integrated in the Windows operating system. "Today we have about 120 million users, so a little more than 1 out of 4 of those downloads turns into a regular Firefox user. In just three years, Spread Firefox has helped drive 400 million people to GetFirefox and after downloading, installing, and trying out the browser, about 120 million of them are regular Firefox users," the same team tried to clarify this issue.

Obviously, Firefox can be downloaded from Softpedia using this link.
