An unusual number of bee deaths recorded

Now we already know that mobile phones could lead to cancer, or infertility or crashing planes, but researchers have discovered yet another way in which cell phones harm something.

According to the experts, the unusual number of honeybee deaths in Britain may have been caused by radiation from mobile phone signals. Now since the bees in London pollinate millions of hectares of fruit trees and crops, which means ?200 to the UK's farmers each year, it is quite important that the cause of the colony collapse disorder (CCD) be determined.

The CCD is a mystery condition in which bees suddenly abandon their hives and disappear to die. British beekeepers have called for further research following the release of a German study showing that radiation can in fact interfere with the bees' navigation systems. Britain is not the only country facing such an issue and in the US over 24 states are affected, with losses of 50 to 90 percent of colonies having been recorded. Recently, CCD has also spread to Poland, Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Just last week Britain had reported losses exceeding 10 percent of the colonies that usually die in winter. Brian Dennis, of the Bee Improvement and Bee Breeding Association, said: "There is so much being said about CCD in America and [radiation] hasn't been mentioned. Until someone does a large study, it is hard to be sure."

Moreover, the massive deaths of bees could lead to massive food shortages in the future. So, all mobile phone users out there, unite in ditching your mobile phone, never using it again, for the sake of the bees.
