Under the Forefront umbrella brand

It's nothing but hit after hit for Microsoft's security solutions. Even though its initial steps on the security market were rather shaky, especially going against heavyweights such as Symantec, McAfee and Kaspersky, the Redmond company failed to crumble and indicated that it was committed to the long run. Results were by no means fast to appear, but Microsoft's antivirus business is growing. The latest example of this are two awards that celebrate the quality of a coupe of products under the Forefront umbrella brand: Forefront Security for Exchange Server and Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2006 from Info Security Products Guide. The first received the "Global Excellence in Email Security Solution" award, while the latter was applauded with the "Global Excellence in Firewall Solution."

"We are pleased to announce that two of our world-class Forefront security products were honored by Info Security Products Guide with 2008 Global Product Excellence Awards. Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange Server 2007 was honored with the award for ]Global Excellence in Email Security Solution', and the Internet Security & Acceleration (ISA) 2006 Server was honored for 'Global Excellence in Firewall Solution.' These two awards are both a testament to the hard work of our development teams, and further proof of the excellence of the Forefront line of security products along with the many other award nominations gained by Forefront products in the last year," stated David Burt, Microsoft Product Manager, Communications, Forefront security.

The fact of the matter is that Microsoft's anti-virus engine has been constantly improving throughout 2007 and the latest series of tests run by AV-Test.org prove just that. Additionally, Microsoft itself has commissioned a performance benchmarking test, as well as a metric-based process of evaluations to West Coast Labs (WCL) involving Forefront Client Security, but also McAfee Active VirusScan with McAfee ePO; Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.2 and Trend Micro OfficeScan Server 7.3. According to Microsoft, Forefront is the best choice out of the three security solutions.
