Speaking at an event in Beersheba, Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon said that the country had the necessary means to counterattack cyberattacks, such as the recent one in which hackers leaked tens of thousands of credit card details.

According to The Jerusalem Post, Ayalon is confident that Israel possesses the resources needed to protect itself since it’s one of the most advanced countries when it comes to online security.

He also states that while the latest incidents are a good wake-up call, the state has the ability to strike back against those who threaten its virtual space and few would escape the blow.

Furthermore, the official believes that Israel should follow the example set by the United States, which recently announced that they reserved the right to retaliate against cyberattacks with conventional weapons.
