In an interview to Israel Radio on Sunday, the Israeli Foreign Minister apologized for his country's weapons deals with China.
"We cannot downplay the crisis over Israel's military exports to China. I think this issue must be resolved soon", Shalom said in the radio interview, according to the Jerusalem Post.
Foreign Minister Silvan Shalom has declared that his country has never intended to endanger the U. S interests. Pentagon's disapproval was linked to Israel's arms sales to China, including those of Harpy airplanes, without its permission.
Therefore, the U.S have suspended both Israel's implication in the Joint Strike Fighter airplane construction, and the U.S military technologies exports to Israel.
His statement was released in the same day he met both U.S secretary of State Condoleeza Rice and Chinese Foreig Minister Li Zhaoxing.
While Rize has criticized the government for its arms sales to China, Li Zhaoxing reassured the Israeli part of the Chinese government's intention to double the non-military trades to $5 billion in 2008, according to Xinhua Agency.
