While reading about Friday's "Superhero day" at Google's London office, I remembered my childhood when we all used to wrap our blankies around our shoulders and catch them with a
safety pin up front and pretend that we were Batman or Superman, Wonder Woman for the girls and so on and so forth, all depending on the color of everybody's respective blanket.
On Friday, London saw many superheroes on the Tube, according to the Official Google Blog, many googlers deciding to come to work already costumed instead of changing there. After all, not everybody can find a phone booth whenever he/she desires it, that's reserved for just one, I'm not going to tell you who, but be careful! He's wearing glasses…
On the left, you can see Googleman, fighting spam and helping old women cross the generation gap and get in contact with their families whenever they are not around. Among his deeds (possible deeds, that is), more prominent is managing to learn everything and index it, so that whenever you ask him anything he will immediately tell you the first thousand things that are connected to your question, the power to make money without actually working, he's got helpers, just like Santa (are they one and the same?).
The activity was hosted in order to raise money for two local charities, the Kids Company, that establishes educational and therapeutic programs for at-risk children, and Refuge, that offers shelter, support and counseling for those affected by domestic violence. The sum raised was about 1.200 pounds. The attendees were not all superheroes, but many other characters, some even... esoteric ones, as you'll see: the entire cast of Scooby Doo, Inspector Gadget and even Jesus. I wonder what the first and the last did in front of the blue screen that was set up for the "flying" photos that were to be taken. Last I checked, Jesus only walked on water, no flying involved there and Scooby… well, y'all know that he's a coward…
