Is This a Joke? K-Fed, Number 7 on the Most Influential Men List?He gets a tie with Larry Birkhead - anyone else here gets the irony? |

Someone out there (possibly the Universe itself) must really hate Britney's a*s big time and seems determined to make her life a living nightmare, or at least make her feel stupid with every opportunity they get. This time, however, whoever (or whatever) Brit Brit's ill-wisher may be, they definitely overdid it just a tiny little bit. I mean, I can totally understand that they wanted to nominate K-Fed for an award - since it's the end of the year, you know, and everyone who's anyone is winning some title or another. But I think that they worked really, really hard to find something to nominate K-Fed for. And their hard work paid off - in the most ironic and...well, funny way imaginable.
The fact is, it's pretty hard to give K-Fed an award for any work he did since...well, he doesn't do much except pose as the world's number one baby daddy. And it seems that those in charge of humiliating Brit Brit noticed that, too, since they worked their magic, racked their brains and eventually came up with this: Kevin Federline, ladies and gentlemen, has come seventh in a list of the "50 Most Influential Men under 45". No, I'm not kidding - Britney's former husband came in joint seventh position along with another controversial figure (well, more controversial that K-Fed anyway), the late Anna Nicole Smith's lover Larry Birkhead in "The Good Fathers" category of the list compiled by Details magazine.
"Meet America's new parental role models" the people at Details say. "We all expected Kevin Federline and Larry Birkhead to crash and burn as fathers. Instead, by being more visible presences in their children's lives than many Hollywood A-listers, they emerged as unlikely candidates for Dad of Year". I may have a little problem with that statement, in the sense that I have the feeling it's overlooking some of the details of these guys' lives completely.
Don't get me wrong - I really have nothing to say against K-Fed and Birkhead's parenting skills, on the contrary. But take just two seconds to think about how these guys entered and then exited from the lives of their partners, and then we'll talk. "The New Dad, as represented by Kevin and Birkhead, is involved. He trucks the kids to the supermarket, decorates their bedrooms, and even lets them dictate the direction of his career" the magazine adds. Well, if they say so...but would I be considered really, really mean if I pointed out that K-Fed didn't have much of a career for himself and that he turned parenting into a career because there were no likely - and profitable - alternatives?
