Jobs may be stepping on Gates' footsteps

I came across an article today on MacNewsWorld, called "Jobs: Acting Like a Mid-'90s Gates" and I couldn't help but wonder: is it true? Will Steve Jobs end up a philanthropist and part-time CEO in 10 years time? (ha ha, that's obviously not going to happen soon...or ever!).

I read Brier Dudley's article and at first I said he's got a good point, and he does. But is Jobs really that kind of guy? The Apple CEO "is reminding me of the way Bill Gates acted in the late 1990s, before the crash", says the writer.

Similar to 'then-Gates', Jobs is now permanently in the eye of the media, statement after statement, controversy after controversy. I got to the point of comparing him to Britney Spears, as I got sicker and sicker of all the Jobs-related media frenzy.

The Apple vs. Apple lawsuit, the Cisco vs. Apple lawsuit (which was absolutely called-for), the iPhone launch, the open-letter on DRM - an 'instigating king', as the author rightfully describes him. He's even picking on school teachers now! He's entitled to, he's Steve Jobs! He's so popular even feds are on his trails, for 'ridiculous' accusations about some misdated stock options.

Brier Dudley thinks these are all steps towards the crash of the Apple CEO. But are they really? I think they are just a phase, from which Jobs gets in and out of. He will not step down for "someone whose values can withstand spotlights on the throne".

He's like the Phoenix, reviving from he's own ashes. We've seen him fall and rise, stronger every time. I'm convinced I'll be writing the name 'Jobs' - and you'll be bored with it - thousands of times from now on. I think Jobs is, essentially, nothing like Gates. As the ad says: "I'm a PC. And I'm a Mac!"
