YouTube is the top service when it comes to online video sharing technologies, numerous users uploading clips every day. But the recent reports revealed that it is not so safe to post a clip on YouTube as a simple copyright lawsuit might send you to court. So think about it, you're an ordinary YouTube user and you might spend years in prison for a simple uploaded video. Today's report for example confirmed this matter as Volkswagen demanded YouTube to provide private details about a member who infringed its copyrights by posting a commercial on its page. Moreover, the video was actually a parody with Nazi-elements, and which recorded an impressive audience.

It was not yet confirmed if YouTube agrees to provide the private information about the user, but the Mountain View company has to comply with the demands. In the past, another similar case kept the video platform in the spotlights.

Fox sent a subpoena to Google to receive sensitive details about ECOtotal, a user who uploaded pirated clips of one of its movies even before they were officially released in the United States. At that time, YouTube provided the information which led to the arrest of the user who was accused for copyright infringement.

That's why I'm asking you: is it safe to upload a clip on YouTube since the video sharing service became popular for the numerous lawsuits filed against it for copyright infringement? No, you would be tempted to say.

But the correct answer is yes, as long as you remain on the safe side and you upload clips created by you. As you probably know, most of the YouTube audience is attracted due to the homemade videos uploaded by the users which manage to form an impressive community supporting the service.
