
The combination of several functions into one device is not at all a new concept, being present in all kinds of technological areas. And Combimouse really is something out of the ordinary, the device combining the most popular peripherals in the IT world, the keyboard and the mouse, in a very original and inventive (but let's face it, also extremely odd) fashion.
But let's see how this device works. As you can notice in the picture, the Combimouse is formed out of 2 separate units, one stationary and one mobile. The left unit (the stationary one) offers the same functions one can find on the left side of most QWERTY keyboards, but also a little scroll
wheel at the bottom. The right unit is mobile and works much in the same way a mouse does, the only (major) difference being that it also has the keys you usually find on the right side of the keyboard.
By default, the Combimouse works in keyboard mode. But when the user touches the right unit in an area called "contact switch", it automatically goes into mouse mode, allowing the pointer to move across the screen, while the I, O, J, K, L and < keys become mouse buttons.
