There is an increasing number of portable storage solutions available out there, most of which are based on Flash memory technology. There are only so many features that can be made available on a USB Flash drive to distinguish it from similar competitive products. However, the fellows over at IronKey have specialized their products to provide users with a high level of security to protect their digital content. On that note, the company has just announced the debut of the new D200 drive.

“As mobile devices become more ubiquitous, it is imperative for enterprise organizations to be able to track, manage, maintain and update the USB drives in use in the organization. Many of our large government and enterprise customers require the ability to update and upgrade devices in the field. The addition of the D200 devices to the IronKey line provides this functionality and allows us to offer more management and more choices without ever compromising on security,” David Jevans, CEO of IronKey, said.

Among the features that have been built into the IronKey D200, the company has highlighted the use of a dual-channel architecture for rapid data transfers, designed to meet the security requirements for FIPS 140-2, Level 3 validation, strong design with self defense against physical, malware and password attacks. Taking that into consideration, this drive is clearly built for business users looking for a secure storage solution for their most critical data.

The drive offers read and write speeds of up to 25MB/s and 17MB/s, respectively, while dimensions are set at 75mm X 19mm X 9mm. Weighing in at just 25 grams, the drive is featured with a traditional USB 2.0 interface and is available in capacities ranging from 1GB to 16GB, according to the company. No word on pricing, just yet, but the drive is already available for ordering, from the company's website.
