Paramount Digital Entertainment has released Iron Man: Aerial Assault for iPhone and iPod touch. Based on the popular movie starring one of Marvel's most iconic super heroes and making the rounds on iTunes, the game has players tilting their devices and engaging enemies in mid-flight melee combat quicktime events.

“IRON MAN: AERIAL ASSAULT is an action-packed airborne shooter where the player uses the high-powered weaponry of Tony Stark's armored suit to battle IRON MAN'S most dangerous enemies,” the iTunes App Store description goes. “Download IRON MAN: AERIAL ASSAULT now and experience the most action-packed game on iPhone.”

The title gives gamers the opportunity to play as Iron Man and engage in aerial combat and challenges that require quick maneuvering and accurate shooting, according to Paramount Digital Entertainment. Developed by the folks at Doublesix, the Iron Man: Aerial Assault includes missions where players navigate through high-altitude battles, soaring through 12 different levels of airborne combat. They can equip themselves with high-powered weaponry and strategic flying mechanisms that serve to eliminate Iron Man's foes.

Although the gameplay heavily relies on accelerometer input, gamers can also control the action by using the touchscreen. With the touch of a thumb, they can access, charge, and fire an arsenal of state-of-the-art weapons, including repulsor blasts, missiles, and the devastating Unibeam, according to the game's publisher.
