Irish pop star Samantha Mumba appeared at Dublin's District Court yesterday, wearing a black top and a black skirt with brown boots, to face charges for driving without any insurance or a driving license.
The 22-year-old artist was caught driving down the M1 motorway in Santry, Dublin on November 22, 2004, with no driving license, no insurance disc and no motor tax disc. (Yahoo)
Samantha Mumba told the Court she had been insured at the time, but she just forgot her driving license at home. Mumba has applied to renew her driving license last month, but she did not provide the Court any copy of the certificate.
The insurance certificate, issued by the star, has been checked by John Faherty, who told Judge Angela Ni Chonduin that everything was in order.
Judge Ni Chonduin decided that Samantha Tamania Anne Cecilia Mumba has to appear again before the Court on September 21.
Louis Walsh, the pop guru who has also promoted the famous bands Boyzone and Westlife, discovered Mumba at the age of 17.
She released several hit singles and also began an acting career, starring in the recent Hollywood adaptation of HG Wells' "The Time Machine".
Her hit song "Gotta Tell You" hit number one on the US Billboard charts, along with reaching the Top 10 music lists in over 20 countries.
"There are a lot of female artists my age around at the moment, but they're all American and blonde and blue-eyed and smiley. I'm totally the opposite of that. I want to show a bit more attitude and I have an opinion", Samantha Mumba said. (Askmen.com)
