Gary Davis, one of the three men arrested in December for their alleged role in the operation of the Silk Road and its successor Silk Road 2, has been released on bail.

TechCrunch has learned from a source close to the investigation that Davis, also known as “Libertas,” was released on bail on December 20, the day on which Irish authorities arrested him.

FBI agents reportedly flew to Ireland to interview the suspect regarding his alleged role as a moderator of the online criminal marketplace, and arrest him. Much to their dismay, he was released. An extradition hearing has been scheduled for February 13.

On the other hand, authorities have found illicit substances on Davis. This could result in a minimum sentence.

The FBI is now said to be after major Silk Road vendors from Europe and the United States.

The other two suspects arrested by authorities in December are Andrew Michael Jones and Peter Phillip Nash.
