An Irish Anonymous-affiliated hacktivist that uses the online moniker Paddy Hack has defaced the official website of the government of Nigeria (Nigeria.gov.ng).

The hacker has launched OpNigeria in protest against a discriminatory anti-LGBT bill. The new law bans same gender marriage, and outlaws organizations that support the rights of gays.

“TANGO DOWN - Nigeria Govt Website - nigeria.gov.ng - For attempting to pass laws jailing gays for 14 years,” the hacker wrote on Twitter.

“I am inspired to do this because I am anti hate,” Paddy Hack said.

He also claims to have gained access to around 600,000 emails, 1,200 usernames and hashed passwords, and other information.

Initially, the hacker gave the Nigerian president a 72-hour deadline to veto the bill. However, currently, the operation has been temporarily suspended by the hacktivist.

“OpNigeria postponed until next week due to the death of 40+ kids by extremists in Nigeria,” he said.
