14 DAY TRIAL // The Tullamore credit union in Ireland will notify more than 3,500 people whose details have been exposed on the Internet back in December.
According to the Irish Times, the financial organization notified the Data Protection Commissioner’s office just before Christmas. The commissioner is currently investigating the incident.
An internal document was inadvertently made publicly available, possibly due to a glitch in the company’s IT systems.
The file contained names, ages, reasons for borrowing money, the amounts borrowed, loan durations and information on arrears. The data was available on Tullamore’s website for at least two days.
So far, the company hasn’t issued any statement on this matter. Initial reports regarding the breach revealed that the details of close to 5,000 individuals could be found in the document.
