Irina Shayk for the latest issue of GQ Spain: model wants to sue magazine over altered photos

While it’s considered ok to Photoshop out things that are not pleasing to the eye (tattoos, wrinkles, rolls of skin or fat), one must draw a line at underwear. Model Irina Shayk, Cristiano Ronaldo’s girlfriend, is considering taking action against GQ Spain precisely for that.

Retouching pics has become norm these days, as the Daily Mail also notes, up to the point that women in the UK are asking for a law to be passed, mandating magazines and ads to come accompanied by a “legend” if their photos have been altered considerably.

Until now, though, the only things that were being retouched were, as also noted above, identifiable marks (tattoos and even moles), the extra pounds, wrinkles and spots, and so forth.

Irina is shocked to see that GQ had the Audacity to Photoshop her lingerie out in the spread she did for the magazine just recently, the Mail says.

The 14-page photospread that can now be seen in the pages of the magazine also includes 3 shots of the model in which she appears not to be wearing anything – and Irina is adamant she’d been clothed all the time.

Moreover, the caption on the cover of the latest issue of the mag (attached photo) also reads “¿Quieres descubrir a la novia de Ronaldo desnuda?” meaning, it’s asking if buyers want to see Ronaldo’s girl sans clothes.

“Model Irina Shayk is considering legal action against GQ Spain after she was shocked to find nude pictures of herself in the December issue – despite wearing underwear for the duration of the shoot,” the Mail writes.

Consequently, she believes three of the images from the shoot have been altered – and she’s not going to just stand by, arms folded, and do nothing about it.

“The model claims she was refused rights to final approval after signing a contract giving her rights to view the images before going to print,” the tab further reports.

Gael Marie, managing director of Elite, where Irina is signed, confirms this: she was refused a right stipulated in the contract and the magazine altered the images without her consent.

“Supermodel Irina Shayk is the victim of ‘photoshop’ and breach of contract over photo approval in GQ Spain. […] A contract was signed on behalf of Ms. Shayk by Elite Model Management where she was to have approval of the interview, cover and images and was refused that right by the publication,” Marie says, as per the same publication.
