Ireland Baldwin, Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger’s gorgeous 17-year-old daughter, is breaking her silence in an open letter on Tumblr, in which she pleads to be allowed time to prove herself and not be thrown into the “yet another celebrity kid” box.

Also there, Ireland, who recently landed a gig as a model, officially, comes to her father’s defense and asks people who feel the need to target her for his mistakes to take just a second to think it through.

Ireland is now slowly making a name for herself as a model but some media outlets and commenters still refer to her as “that rude thoughtless little pig,” as her father Alec once called her in a recorded phone message that leaked online.

She is not her mother and her father, and she would rather she’d be given a chance before she’s judged, Ireland writes.

At the same time, she thinks that past incident, as scandalous as it might have been, is bygone.

“Just like almost all of you, my Dad has made some mistakes in the past. He has spoken out of place, he has let his temper get the best of him, and he has reacted towards things in ways he shouldn’t have. I get hateful replies and threats regarding mistakes of my Dad’s past. This isn’t fair,” Ireland writes.

“I had nothing to do with anything that happened back then, so I don’t fully understand why I am being targeted. More importantly, my Dad has moved on. He recognized that he needed to change, so he made changes. He is now healthy, happily married with a baby on the way. He moved on, so why can’t you?” she says.

“I have entered the social media world and the entertainment business to make a name for myself. Like I have also mentioned on my Twitter page, I am not seeking fame by association. I do not want to be simply known as a model. I am proud to be my parent’s daughter, but I don’t want to forever be known as ‘that rude thoughtless little pig’ or ‘Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger’s kid’,” Ireland continues.

She says she wants to be a healthy role model and someone who gets to follow her dreams and sees them come true. All she asks is time to be able to achieve all that.
