Nina Siahkali Moradi is an Iranian politician who has been told that she cannot take office over her “catwalk model” looks.

After elections for the Council of the city of Qazvin, she was placed on a waiting list as an “alternate member” or backup member of council.

When someone getting more votes than her was forced to step down, she was supposed to be signed in as councilwoman; however, she was disqualified.

Officials told The International Campaign for Human Rights that she was disqualified for failing to observe Islamic codes throughout her campaign, a decision taken by the review board.

However, the 27-year-old architecture graduate claims that she has never spoken to the board. She also argues that disqualifications should have been made upon her putting her name in.
