Gray buildings surround people in many big cities around the world, and sometimes they are dull and boring, but the same cannot be said about Tehran, the capital city of Iran. Here, a talented street artist has turned common buildings into artworks by painting amazing scenes on their facades.

The stunning pieces of street art featured in the photo gallery below are the work of Mehdi Ghadyanloo, an Iranian artist and designer who has his own mural painting company called Blue Sky Painters.

According to Amusing Planet, the 33-year-old street artist has been painting murals and walls in the Iranian capital of Tehran for the last 5 years. Until now, he has decorated over one hundred walls, transforming many gray buildings into colorful works of art.

Ghadyanloo's murals are not only beautiful, they also are fun and playful and brighten up the city. His designs are often three-dimensional, playing with depth and optical illusions. Others depict surreal scenes such as locomotives that run on the ceiling and men who walk upside down, or interact with the surrounding environment.

The artist has the municipality's full support to paint the city, as his projects are actually financed by the local authorities.
