The commander of the IT&C department at the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, General Mohammad Aqakishi, says that Iran is fully prepared to handle any cyberattacks that its adversaries might launch.

According to the Tasnim News Agency, the commander highlights that Iran has made significant progress in IT, and military forces have taken advantage of the new technologies.

“One of the options on the table of the US and its allies is a cyber war against Iran. But we are fully prepared to fight cyber warfare,” Aqakishi said.

Furthermore, the military official believes that the US is well aware of the country’s capabilities in the cyber arena.

While it’s true that the US has accused Iran of being behind many major cyberattacks, including the ones against financial institutions and the more recent attack against the Navy’s computer networks, the Islamic republic has always either denied accusations or refused to comment.
