Iran has been in the news quite a lot lately due to various internet attacks. The series of attacks on US banks have security experts and some US officials accusing Iran of being behind them.

But it seems Iran can get as good as it gives as it is now revealing that its own internet infrastructure has been under attack.

Iranian officials are saying that internet access was slow in the entire country as its core infrastructure as well as ISPs and communications companies were targeted in what appears to be a huge DDoS attack.

Officials were quoted as saying that an attack weighing in at several gigabytes caused them to limit speeds and access to counter it.

Iran says the attacks are organized and coordinated and that they target its industry and strategic assets, such as its nuclear program, oil companies and IT services.
