The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Hamid Reza Asefi issued an official statement today in which it cautions against the United States' intentions with regard to creating chaos in the Middle East region in order to reshape it to their own will.

According to the Fars News Agency, Asefi, who is currently taking part in an open Majlis session, commented on the Israeli attacks in Lebanon:" Iran had advance information that this attack would take place and hence its analysis of the Middle East situation is quite transparent".

Asefi added that the US's clear opposition to a ceasefire in the Lebanon conflict is a powerful argument for the fact that the latter intends to use Israel, and its war in the Middle East on the Lebanese and Palestinian fronts, as a tool for what it envisions to become of this region:" America intends to leave Israel's hands open in an unequal war. Remember that previously Israel with less might defeated all Arab countries within six days, but now that it has become more powerful it has been defeated by Hezbollah and this shows the grandeur of Hezbollah".

However, the United Nations have not reacted in a consistent matter either, in Asefi's point of view:" The UN Security Council did not react favorably toward the Israeli crimes. We have requested the Organization of Islamic Conference to enter the scene and the OIC meeting would be held soon".

When reporters asked him about the Israeli attacks on Hezbollah being a well-built pretext to further extend an attack over to Iran in due time, Asefi answered: "This is indeed a psychological warfare. The 'Zionis't regime and America act as each other's agents and this war is, in fact, the prelude to a conspiracy against all Arab and Muslim countries of the region".
