Having a very up-to-date and efficient data back-up system is a "must" for any serious company nowadays, as the loss of any data from the firm's network might have some rather nasty effects on the respective enterprise's field of activity. Fortunately, the number of such back-up solutions available on the market is quite large and it seems that it just got larger, as the Iomega company has just announced the release of three new models in its StorCenter series.

Thus, the three new Iomega StorCenter Network Hard Drives allow users to access files from any networked PC or Mac for file-sharing and print serving and are based on 3.5-inch 7200 RPM SATA-II hard drives with an 8MB cache.
Iomega's 500GB and 750GB StorCenter drives are single-drive products that feature a Gigabit Ethernet connection with jumbo frame support. However, the high-end 1TB StorCenter Network Hard Drive is a two-drive product supporting the most popular RAID configurations, namely RAID 0 (striping), RAID 1 (mirroring) and JBOD (which treats both drives as a large single drive).

The new NAS solutions from Iomega also support advanced network features, as for example a journaling file system that helps prevent data loss in the event of a power failure, the Active Directory support that allows the StorCenter to function as a client member in an Active Directory domain, as well as UPnP AV media server capabilities that allow users to stream multimedia content over the network.

"Iomega is a recognized industry leader in the SMB network storage segment, and now we're strengthening our leadership position with the launch of our fourth generation network hard drive line," said Tom Kampfer, president and COO, Iomega Corporation. "Iomega network hard drive storage products are specifically designed to make it easy and dependable for SMBs and home office users to manage their data across the network, which is increasingly the location for storage products that deliver anywhere, anytime file access. Today's new Iomega StorCenter products are cost-effective network hard drives that feature a high performance architecture and superb backup software to keep network data accessible and protected."

The three new storage solutions from Iomega will hit the shelves in the immediate future and will retail for around 389 US dollars (the 1 TB version), 359 US dollars (the 750 GB version) and 269 US dollars (the 500 GB version), which makes them quite affordable (around $0,5 per GB is a pretty good deal, don't you think?)
