Keep an eye on it because it's difficult to find once it gets lost

Iomega has announced mass-availability for its camouflage patterned 250 GB portable hard disk drive in the eGO family of products. Called the Camo, the new drive comes with USB connectivity, and is mostly targeted at mobile users who carry large amounts of data around.

The unusual hard disk drive packs 250 GB of storage space in a sturdy, rounded enclosure. The camouflage pattern brings nothing in terms of HDD performance or capacity and the manufacturer claims that it only adds extra style and spirit to a mundane consumer electronics device.

"Unlike mundane, run-of-the-mill looking branded portable hard drives, Iomega's eGo Portable Hard Drive line features a palette of bright colors that knocks the socks off anything else in the market", said Ralf San Jose, global product manager for HDD products, Iomega Corporation.

The Camo hard disk drive hooks to the computer via a USB 2.0 port and draws its power directly from the PC bus. This means that there is no extra power adapter to carry with you, which adds extra convenience and portability.

Iomega built the drive using its patented DropGuard technology that protects the hard disk drive from physical shocks caused by accidental drops. The company guarantees the drive's integrity if dropped from up to 152 centimeters, thanks to the extra layer of protection offered by the Power Grip band.

"With the new eGo Camo Portable Hard Drive, Iomega adds a style of adventure and intrigue to the eGo color kaleidoscope. No self-respecting 'camo' lover will be without it. Expect to see more exciting additions like the new Camo to the Iomega eGo drive line in the future", San Jose concluded.

The eGO portable hard disk drive works on multiple platforms, including Windows Vista, Windows 2000, Windows XP, as well as Mac OS X 10.1.5 or above. The drive is already available on retail and sells for an estimative price of $149.95.
