At their core, servers aren't that different from consumer PCs, in terms of hardware layout and interoperability. That means that data centers need large storage arrays separate from the server nodes in order to store everything.

Iomega has just launched one such network storage array: StorCenter px12-400r, with 12 bays that can hold HDDs of 1 to 4 TB.

An Intel Core i3 CPU runs the rackmount unit, while four Gigabit Ethernet connections make sure the stored files are always easy to reach.

Companies from around the world can already order it, in various forms, from diskless to 48 TB capacity (12 x 4 TB HDDs). The prices are negotiable depending on quantity, but no smaller than $4,699.9 / 3,664.3 – 4,699.9 Euro.
