Fashion is increasingly becoming part of today's computer hardware products. Currently, several manufactures release products designed and advertised as fashionable, high-performance products, that are meant to provide support for the everyday activities of the users. One such manufacturer is Iomega, which yesterday released a new storage solution with a rather elegant finish.

The new Leather-Wrapped eGo hard drive has been designed to combine the stylish brown leather-wrapped drive with a high performance storage solution, ready for on-the-go action. The device is advertised as being the right choice for users wanting to stand out in the crowd, even when just using a simple hard drive. And because of the stylish brown leather finish, this Iomega product will most probably be the first choice of tech enthusiasts and fashionable users.

Nevertheless, design is not everything this portable storage solution goes for. It has been designed to provide users with an easy-to-use storage solution that brings out the essentials in portable storage. Underneath the leather exterior, a USB-powered portable hard drive can be found, offering support to any computer user out there. The rather generous 250 GB storage space is contained on a small notebook size, 2.5-inch drive. The drive ships with a license for EMC Retrospect HD software, which provides support for backups, be they automatic, scheduled, or on-demand.

Performance-wise, this Iomega product provides a high speed USB 2.0 transfer speed of 480 Mbits/s. Don't be fooled by the stylish look of the drive, as it seems that it doesn't come short of security features either. The drive has been equipped with Iomega's DropGuard technology, which protects eGo Leather Drive from accidental damage that may be incurred by a drop from as high as 51 inches (129 cm).

"Around the world, the Iomega eGo Portable Hard Drive has been recognized for its beautiful industrial design, and this leather-bound edition brings a new esthetic of luxury and opulence to the necessity of storing and protecting your digital life," said Tom Kampfer, president of Iomega Corporation.
