Earlier this week, Invincea announced the acquisition of a competing company, namely Sandboxie. In addition to the acquisition, Invincea also raised $16 million (€11.7 million) in Series C financing from Aeris Capital, Dell Ventures and some existing investors.

The acquisition of Sandboxie was completed earlier this year. Invincea’s Founder and CEO, Anup Ghosh,  has highlighted the fact that the two companies are pioneering brands in Windows Containment technology and market leaders.

The fact that the two firms have joined forces consolidates their position as market leaders and enables Invincea to expand its business globally (over 1,000 companies rely on Sandboxie solutions).

Ghosh says that his company will continue to support and enhance Sandboxie solutions.

“Sandboxie fans have no need to be concerned by its new ownership. You’ve been running under the Invincea umbrella for some time now and we have been working with Sandboxie Founder, Ronen Tzur, to ensure a smooth transition to new ownership,” he explained.

As far as the money raised in this financing round, it will be used to expand product offerings into mobile and other platforms.
