Suricata, a high-performance Network IDS, IPS, and Network Security Monitoring engine that is open source and owned by a community-run non-profit organization – the Open Information Security Foundation (OISF), is now at version 2.0 Beta 2.

According to the developer, Suricata 2.0 Beta 2 marks the release of a new build in the next development branch.

Highlights of Suricata 2.0 Beta 2 :

• The option to disable/enable individual app layer protocol inspection modules has been added; • This release overhauls the protocol detection feature. It now considers both sides of connection, and will raise events on mismatches; • The DNS parser and logger has been improved; • Tilera support has been improved.

A complete list of changes and new features is available in the official changelog.

Suricata is developed by the OISF, its supporting vendors, and the community. This means that the developers need the active support of the latter in order to improve the software.

Download Suricata 2.0 Beta 2 right now from Softpedia. Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
