Not among the select few who received official invitations to test drive the Technical Preview build of Office 2010? Well, there’s still a chance for you. It's called the Office 2010 Technical Preview Waitlist. Until the Technical Preview of Office 2010 went live the past week, Microsoft continued to accept participation requests for the testing program
via the Office 2010 The Movie website. This is no longer the case. The Technical Preview registration page on the website has transformed into the
Technical Preview Waitlist.
“Technical Preview Program Waitlist Registration - The Microsoft Office 2010 Technical Preview program is a limited, invitation only opportunity to experience early, pre-release versions of Office 2010 and Visio 2010,” reads a message from the Redmond company. “Due to high demand, we cannot guarantee entry into this program, but we are currently accepting registrations for a waitlist. By registering, you are signing up to be considered for the Technical Preview program and you will be notified within one to two months.”
Clicking the “Waitlist Me for the Technical Preview!” link will take users to fill a registration form with their data. Microsoft will ask for contact information, but also a variety of details including where Office 2010 will be tested, at home or at work. At the bottom, users will be able to create a registration account with the company and update the information submitted at any time, or even cancel the participation request.
The Office 2010 Technical Preview went live officially on July 13th, 2009. Last week, the Redmond company started sending out invitations along with links to the Office 2010 bits on Connect. Testers are all placed under a strict non-disclosure agreement. Almost concomitantly with Microsoft giving the green light to the Office 2010 Technical Preview, the bits were leaked and made available for download in the wild.
