ThinkGOS proudly announced a couple of days ago the immediate availability of a new Linux-based operating system, gOS Gadgets. The OS is built in such a way that you can easily have access to over 100,000 iGoogle and Google gadgets, all with the help of a pre-installed version of the popular Google Gadgets application. Based on the newly released Ubuntu 8.04.1 LTS, and especially designed for NetTops and NetBooks, the gOS Gadgets operating system is the third and best edition of a Linux distribution to have debuted at Wal-Mart stores a few months ago.

For advanced users, gOS Gadgets includes Google Mail, Calendar and Documents, which will be launched in Mozilla Prism windows so they can look like real desktop applications. Moreover, it provides the newest version of the Wine software, so you can run dozens of Microsoft Windows programs.

The good news is that gOS Gadgets will come pre-installed on NetTops and NetBooks available in the US, Europe, and Asia.

gOS is the most addictive Linux operating system, based on the latest version of Ubuntu, with a Mac OS X look, and being compatible with thousands of Windows applications. The minimum requirements for gOS Gadgets are:

■ 700 MHz x86 processor
■ 384 MB of system memory (RAM)
■ 8 GB of disk space
■ Graphics card capable of 1024×768 resolution
■ Sound card
■ A network or Internet connection

You can download and test gOS Gadgets 3.0 Beta right now from Softpedia.
