Introducing Roborazzi, the Party Photographer Robot

Roborazzi is a robot affectionately dubbed Party Photographer, created by Greg Shirakyan, a developer on Microsoft’s Robotics team, with the help of the recently released Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 4 (RDS4) Beta.

Shirakyan used the free RDS4 Beta, a Kinect sensor and a reference robotics platform to build Roborazzi. What’s important to stress, is that developers can create similar projects using just the RDS simulator, without the hardware.

The “party photographer is designed to wander autonomously, engaging people by detecting them using Microsoft Kinect’s skeletal tracking capabilities and once they’re in frame EDDIE snaps a pic,” noted a member of the Microsoft Robotics team.

“Once the image has been captured you can have the picture uploaded to Flickr. Roborazzi alleviates the need for individuals to capture the special memories at an event and allows them to focus their time on creating them.”

Microsoft Robotics Developer Studio 4 Beta is available for download here.

Looks like ken Rinaldos Paparazzi Bots project created in 2009. Interesting that Rinaldo created the work and invented the base they are using to allow their Kinect to do the same thing.
